The Sycamore Church exists to help people see Jesus. We want you to know God, find freedom, discover your purpose and make a difference in Tupelo!

Moving [back] to Tupelo was part of a bigger story that God was writing for the Burton family.

Eric is the oldest of six children, and growing up in a large family came with its share of challenges. His life took a dramatic turn at age 12 when he was adopted into a loving home in Tupelo. That experience planted a seed in his heart: that God could use even the most broken beginnings to bring healing to others.

Kamala’s journey began on the other side of the world. Raised in Pakistan as a missionary child, she grew up immersed in ministry and cross-cultural life. Her upbringing gave her a deep understanding of what it means to serve and to follow God’s call, wherever it leads.

They met at Christian Life College in Stockton, California, in 2000.

They married in 2002 and spent the next several years ministering across North America and internationally. They loved the adventure of travel and the joy of connecting with people from all walks of life. But over time, felt a growing desire to plant roots and build something lasting, something that would transform lives through deep, authentic relationships. As Eric always says, “we wanted people to see the good, the bad and the ugly.

In 2015, they returned to Tupelo with two kids, Oliver and Kate, to plant The Sycamore Church. Morgan arrived shortly after. Their mission is simple: helping people see Jesus, and ultimately live, love, and lead like Him.

Their story is one of redemption, calling, and family, and we believe you have a story too, one that God wants to use to bring hope to others. We’d love to hear it!
